We have decided that we will not be continuing plans for implementation of 18+ Forums. However much some members of the forum want it; I have taken the following in to consideration.
Even the though the forum could be optionally viewed...
It could damage the reputation, encourage adult spam bots, encourage users who are basically, not who we are looking for.
Turn away female members, and those who may be uncomfortable around 18+ Forums
Would mean every user would have to submit an age, invading privacy
Would distract users from other areas of the forum
Would have legalities, and rules involved in it
also,
Our Community has just over 200 members, few of which are truly active, and the members participaiting in the forum most likley will be...
Staff, People under 18, People who want an excuse to spam, swear and the 3 or 4 over 18 members who would have fun there etc.
Therefore, we will not be implementing an 18+ Forum for now, but may consider it in the future.
To back ourselfs up here; im going to use Spymac. Spymac for those of you who don't know, is a community for Mac users. The forums have become less active recently, they have become very commercial (with alot of ads for non paying members) and in an attempt to regain peoples interest, have introduced an 18+ Forums, and some pointless features like iPod trades and other things like that. Now this isn't a bad thing, but it does attract the wrong audiences, and then people lose the link with the original concept and community, look up Spymac on Wikpedia, to see how spymac has gone down hill, and made many members leave.
Were going to end this announcement by quoting a pot from a Member on Spymac forums, just last week. Please consider it.
Quote:
dear makers of spymac,
time to say goodbye. i thought a community of people who are into macs as much as i am must be great fun. i was wrong. it reminded me of a party where everybody knows each other for years and everybody who is late is ignored. inside jokes, memories of good old times and constant complaining about details of earlier versions of spymac are powerfull weapons to scare newbies away. at least it worked with me.
i was not interested in red lights, i don´t want to be involved in anti/pro america discussions, i hate guns and i would never present one in a gallery, i´m not willing to do anything for an ipod except going into a store to buy one. i don´t want to share my lunch or dinner details, i don´t see a point in telling anybody what time it is in london, munich or elsewhere.
so please let me go. and please erase me.
a.) because i know myself, i´m weak, i would come back. and i realy don´t want to.
b.) because i don´t want to soften statistics.
i believe that most of the one million members are ex-members. and that means girls and guys who were unhappy in the community.
What about we make it so that only people who enter their age can even only see it, I mean that they don't see it when they register...only after registration and only if they are adult...
Hey Guys forgot to log in before made the above post,so log me in a as guest,so if you kind mods could delete. Thanks Mark
Hi Guys I would love a 18+ forum ,but you have got to think about the community maybe when you have loads more members you may consider

One thing to remember if it has not already been mentioned.
There is not reliable method for verifying age.
Sites like Myspace and Facevault, are having this issue now.
Teens and very young children are listing them selves as much older.
there is a legal responsibility of the site to police this.
an 18+ forum adds increased legal exposure.
If a 12 year old manages to by pass the age verification and sees or reads something they are not supposed to the site is liable for not enacting proper regulations and managing the conetent.
Personally I think an 18+ section really would not fit into the community that is here.
Sam, get an age script, that hides the 18+ section to anyone unregistered or under 18...
For the reasons Athildja-Px64 has just stated, and what I said in the first post, we will not be having 18+ forums, and will not be planning to have nay; we didnt use the script for age verification; although we did develop one.
