If you really plan on gaming the 6600GT should be a mininum. ALso, don't get generic RAM. Buy from a reputable manufacturer. Raidmax PSU's are just dangerous. Either get a different case with a quality PSU (with this option you're pretty much limited to Antec) or buy a cheap case and a quality PSU seperate. Something like a Fortron AX450-PN would be good. You could go even cheaper. A Quality 300w PSU would be more then adequate. A 15\" CRT is really small. I would try to get at least a 17\". It shouldn't be any more expensive anyway.

You should also get a Socket 939 3000+, not a Socket 754. Socket 939 supports dual channel, Also, you're gonna need a CPU cooler for either one of those, so don't forget to add that to your costs.

Uh... get a gig (or two :D) of PC3200 OCZ Value-series memory. That stuff is actually pretty impressive on benchmarks, doesn't cost much, and outperforms Corsair XMS series RAM. :D

Like KoolDrew said, you're going to want a 6600 GT or an X800 GTO for a graphics card, an X700 performs under a 6600 GT in every benchmark, and the X1300 is a value card, barely more powerful than an X300.

That's about it... really... Good luck on that! :D

Basically the same as above.  Try to grab a socket 939 instead.  If you game you'll also want a 6600GT or X800GTO minimum if not a 6800GS.  I'd also recommend a PSU from Antec, OCZ or Fortron instead of a Raidmax.  And if you can afford it, get 1GB of memory, it'll make a huge difference in all performance.

I would switch it with an Opteron 144. It will overclock much better and has twice the amount of cache.

I would suggest the ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 motherboard. At the price of $68 you can't really go wrong. It isn't a bad overclocker and has SATA II support. You could try to save money in other areas to bump up to a 6800GS, but the X800GTO is still a great choice at its price point. If you plan on upgrading to 2GB soon get a single 1GB stick instead. I would switch the WD drive for the Hitachi 7K80. However, if you do prefer WD for whatever reason, it is fine if you stick with it. I only recommend the Hitachi because it is a better performer at no extra cost. Replace the Antec PSU with a Fortron AX450-PN.

Yes Josh, look at those links. The Opteron 144 is at least 200$. ZipZoomFly had it for 165$ around the time I bought my 3000+ Venice for 141. Wish I'd bought the Opteron. :(
