AMD has started creating processors sized 65 nanometres.
First processors made with this new technology is the new Athlon 64 x2 -series
AMD is trying to catch up Intel's new multicore-processors with this new technology.
AMD's processor nowdays are based on 90 nanometres tech.
Smaller size enables more powerfull processors compared to temperature and power consumption. By smaller sized parts, AMD can douple the amount of transistors used in processor by Moores law once in a 18 month
AMD tries to use this new tech also at older Athlon and Sempron processors, but both of them will be also manufactered as 65nm, and 90nm version
New processors will be availible at the beginning of the 2007
Intel's currently thinking about starting to use 45nanometres technology at the end of 2007
Rob Willioner says that 5 nanometres technology will be achieved after year 2020.
