I think they are both great companies with great products. But I seem to favour ATI a little more with there amazing Graphic Cards. NVIDIA is king when it comes to Chipsets for AMD.

I can't wait for ATI to release there revised Socket 939 chipset.

Both are excellent companies, but Nvidia gets my vote for their SLI technology and the 6800/6850 Ultra cards.

Hmm...I dont know about that; perhaps you are correct. ATI X800 and X850 cards use up about 100W less than Nvidia 6800Ultra. And they generate less heat also.

Nvidia = brute force and power
ATI = polished and stylish

Yes, well I have to agree, but when it comes down to Performance/Quality, ATI is # 1 in my book.

NVIDIA is a little newer in the technology race for now. But you have to ask yourself why Microsoft dropped Intel & NVIDIA for there XBox 2, and went with IBM for CPU's (G5 maybe) & ATI for there R520 core.

I think Microsoft was disappointed with the XBOX performance due to the Intel chip & NVIDIA graphics.

Well you realize when Xbox 1 was released, the best graphics card was probably an FX5200/Radeon 9600. Anyways, Nvidia works well with OpenGL such as Doom 3 and ATI works well with Direct X 9.0 in games like Half Life 2.

But in most DX9 games, Nvidia still wins with brute force.

Plus, I don't think ATI cards can even be set in SLI position period. Or can they?  <_<

I think they can. SLI is Driver driven, so as long as ATI has support for this, then there shouldn't be a problem. As a matter of fact there was a review site which tested SLI with two X800 XT PE's vs. the 6800 Ultra pair.

Both performed quite well if I remember correctly, but the Ultra pulled a bit ahead. Go figure, NVIDIA chipset you know. But in Half-Life 2, ATI was ahead by at least 40 FPS, as did NVIDIA in DOOM 3.

I'm looking for this site as I write this, and I'll get back to you with the link.

Plus, NVIDIA?s chipset?s need to support ATI cards as ATI?s new chipset needs to support NVIDIA.

Can you imagine if you bought yourself 2 X800 XL cards for the SLI setup and it didn?t work?  ATI nor NVIDIA don?t need the hassle & complaints.

Yes, I agree. My ATI Radeon 9700 Pro felt more stable on my nForce 2 mobo I have here lying around than a GeForce 4 4200 128MB DDR.

Go figure?

That's odd.

Via's chipsets seem to be extremely stable.
But I like my nForce.

I hear that the 6800GT is a wonderful OC'er.
Well, Good Luck.

Here is a link which may help.
