Today the BBC made it official -- they have been corrupted by Microsoft. With today's launch of the iPlayer, the BBC Trust has failed in its most basic of duties and handed over to Microsoft sole control of the on-line distribution of BBC programming. From today, you will need to own a Microsoft operating system to view BBC programming on the web.
It's ashame that the BBC feel that they can't provide the service at the moment due to 'DRM' issues, this is exactly what happened with Channel 4's on demand service 4OD. I'm sure the BBC could have released an apple mac/linux version at the same time as the one for Microsoft.
All I can say is thank goodness the BBC has to listen to the public, but it should have brought out a version for all platforms at the same time.
Leading UK internet service providers are warning they may have torestrict customers' access to the BBC's new iPlayer service unless thecorporation contributes to the cost of streaming videos over theinternet.
