Overclocking or gaming, Opteron hands down.

Multitasking, rendering, graphics, take the X2.

If overclocking is a given, Opteron, hands down.

Both the Opteron and X2 are architecturally the same. The only difference being is that the Opterons have more cache and overclock much better due to the fact that they go through more thorough testing and are made of higher quality silicon.

How exactly did you come to this conclusion? The Opty and X2 are basically the same exact CPU's. The independant variable, when it comes to performance, (when at the same clock speed) being the amount of cache.

The dual cores handle multimedia work better. That is how I came to that conclusion.

Sorry, I was under the impression that it was single core.

I suggest you take a look at the Newegg reviews:

Isn't it against Neweggs rules to post reviews like those where they say how bad their prices are? If so, how did they get posted if newegg reviews every review before putting it on their site?

Newegg doesn't review every review before posting it. I've given a review on the Antec Sonata case, and I checked right after I submitted it, and the review was added.

it is duel core see

\"This is the best bang for the buck dual-core CPU on the market. Overclocked to 2.6 on air cooling. It is way overpriced on NewEgg, though, its listed price on AMD is $xxx. Way overpriced. Get it from somewhere else until NewEgg lowers the price.\"

i would go with opty 165 better quality.

That makes the Opteron even more of a better choice.
