Steam users may have noted a cryptic message accompanying a recent update, which promised imminent news on a new game to be released by the end of 2005, and today the veil has been lifted: After nine months of languishing without official North American distribution, Introversion Software's retro-modern strategy shooter Darwinia will be the next third-party game to be distributed through Valve's network.
No longer available as a direct download through Introversion's website, the game, recently given Edge's People's Choice Award, will be released on the 14th of December at a cost of $19.95 (£11.50), one-third off the boxed retail copy, with an extra 10% discount for pre-orders. To celebrate the deal, Introversion is preparing a special behind-the-scenes and making-of video to be released alongside the pre-order launch.
