A while ago Adobe bought the macromedia Brand, I cant wait for the next "CS 3" because that will mean true intergration between Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat and Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks and Director. I think Freehand will be replaced by Illustrator, and Fireworks by Adobe ImageReady.
This will mean excellent compatability, and now you can almost do all the work, creative and technical in one program, imagine Adobe Bridge now!
Actually it is an investment Most businesses will not be using a torrent etc, as they will obviously want to stay legal, and they will invest in the software to increase productivity and make their finished product(s) of better quality; and so it is an investment from a professioan/business point of view... I wander what percentage of CS2 is actually genuine licenced copies?

Hello, i agree having one tool set which actualy is compatable will be a good thing. I'm not so sure about adobe taking the market by such a strange hold, it can often lead to missed oporunties. When one company owns the lions share creativity can be stifled, both in there development of software and new tools.
As an example, Freehand has now reached the end of its long lustrious life and will be replaced with another vector drawing app like illustrator. this means now you only have two choices Move to Illustrator or continue to use an ageing product with little to no support from the company. I like Freehand and will very sore to see it go, i can only imagine what Freehand 8 would have been like now, but i bet it would have been a cracker!
Anyway the Gaints have spoke and now i have to learn a New Program.
Thanks Adobe!
Ive always been with adobe.... but, here we have QuarkXPress, old time industry standard and my local graphic design firm I worked with, and the local printers are using InDesign as standard now, as are many other larger publishers. Future Publishing have gone over too.
With Quark, they really cant keep up, and they are not good enough for a buy out, and with Macromedia being bought out, the best competition in the creative industry there is, it will mean standardisation, however competition is always good.
Open Souce, realisically will never play a part in the industry, however its probably the best option for the personal and small business even, however, it is never quite as good, whatever your open-source-buffs try to argue, as Adobe.
I do like the Adobe way of working, and with OSX10.5 and CS3 around the corner, it will onyl mean increases in productivity in the Creative Sector at iVirtua I am also investing in a 22inch widescreen yey.
Actually, I don't like this. Adobe can not replace Macromedia. I am and will always be a Macromedia user, I cant stand adobe. If they replace DW and FW with there gay crap, I wont be happy
Adobe has a better workflow, it will be alot better in terms of integration, and wont be much different, I doubt they will change alot.
Macromedia 8 is actually Adobe Macromedia 8, and they have been taken over for quite some time now.
What we are specuating is the CS3 release and whether that seamlessly integrate with the Adobe Web Suite. It also means no more GoLive (I never used it anyway) and as both Photography/Graphics and Web Industry standard programs come in to one suite, it has to be good productivity wise.
Its the best, it really is. Its also industry standard. Any reasons as to why... you "hate" it? I mean its almost as bad as hating microsoft... whats wrong with Adobe?
