EA announced on Friday that it will discontinue online service for just about every non-2007 sports games including '06 titles starting September 1. PS2, Xbox 360, PSP, and PC games will all be affected. The full list of games losing online support are as follows:

this is too bad for ea and good for pirates. cuz pirated ea games cant be play via net. but i am with nfs carbon [of course pirated] and can play it online. hurrey!!!

ya but they r cool but i still dont get it! i mean some older games people play more and some newer games r bad. i mean that is kinda stupid. but life is life and othing we can do about it.

Dropping support for '06 sports games seems pretty outrageous.  You can still pick these up shrinkwrapped in bargain bins--shouldn't they be forced to pull them from the shelves since the packaging still promises online gameplay.  I don't think they should have to run the servers forever, but five years seems reasonable to expect.
