Actually I think this is a good thing. Personally, I don't like AOL because of their browser, tools, price, etc., but a lot of people use it. If they will advertise Google the way they say they will, then it will generate a lot more traffic for Google, and therefore a lot more loyal customers. Google will also be able to capitalize even more on the search engine department, as they will be able to expand their search capibilities to use AOL's video archive. Google is getting the better end of the deal in my opinion, since they actually get to use the archives, and they are getting a lot of advertising from AOL. AOL, in turn is only getting rights to use the Google search in their browser and tools. Even before this, people could go to Google.com from AOL and use the search. Its not really any different.
Like I said, this is a good thing for Google, and it won't make a huge difference in AOL, aside making their stuff better by including a Google search in it. :P
To me, I don't think it makes much of a difference. Techy people will hate that they did it, shocked that google would want to associate with someone like *gasp*AOL*gasp* But, on the other side of the coin, those who aren't so computer-minded will start to notice google more. So, I think the good and bad for google will pretty much even itself out more, though it will make google a little less 'geekish'.
I really can not stand AOL, bad customer service, stupid layout, bad uptime. Whereas Google is excellent and has helped me and many more others on more than one occasion. The mix of the bad and the good. Hmmmmm. Risky, this could end up in desaster where Google is dragged down, or, best case senario Google brings AOL up. I hope that is the case.
i think this is great i hate everyting about*deepbreath* aol*wheww* and like all my friends are like wats ur SN(me being 15) and any one who knows anything about computers or anything techie about then know aol deserves to be lit on fire or smushed. Personaly i love the way google has thier set up going on and there search engine and all the stuff is superiour. i have googles mail (gmail) and the gmail stuff and i also have the tool bar. I think google and fire fox r exellent and if google can help aol well thats great but im sticking with google as long as they stay just like they r.
