My name is Dave and I'm a 20 yr old gamer/tweaker/overclocker/artist/student from NW England. I'm studying computer animation at the University of Teesside in the North East with modules in storyboarding, scriptwriting, the history of moving pictures, drawing and composition, animation principles and traditional hand-drawn animation techniques in addition to the actual 3D modelling/computer animation side of things. After my course i'm hoping to work in the games industry, but should be well-suited for a career in film effects and the like. I'm gonna see what my strengths are as the course unfolds and find out what i'm most suited to, but my first passion is games.
I've just finished my first term and am currently home for christmas spending time with family, relaxing and catching up with some of the work before i head back to uni. As well as playing games I enjoy watching films and listening to music. I used to sketch and doodle a ton as a child but as i grew up and got more and more interested in music, learning and practising the guitar kinda took over. I'm trying to get back into the habit of sketching all the time again, but it's finding the time and the inspiration that's the trouble.
I guess i'm here to use these forums as i would any other gaming/hardware/PC modding/overclocking forum, but i'll hopefully try to keep a sort of worklog in that i'll post alot of what i'm working on at the time if i think it's worth sharing - I hope to bounce ideas off people and get thoughts and suggestions for projects and assignments in relation to my course and modelling/animation interest in general.
