While not some attack or slur upon Blizzard Entertainment the Halifaxbank, with the Bank of Scotland as a subsidiary, are blocking automaticmonthly payments to the MMO. They cite that World of Warcraft isexperiencing high incidences of credit card fraud.
Theygo on to state that its users themselves and not an issue withBlizzards online billing system that is the problem. While automaticpayments are being stopped, customers can still subscribe to World ofWarcraft but must first contact the Halifax or Bank of Scotland toauthorise future payments.
"We do notbelieve the fraud is anything to do with Blizzard themselves, theirsites or the integrity of their billing systems, rather it is siteusers utilising stolen credit card details to pay for subscriptions,"
the Halifax spokesman said.
"Ifa customer does want to subscribe to a game site operated by Blizzard,using a Halifax or Bank of Scotland credit card, we can arrange for thepayments to be processed for them if they contact us."
