These \"once-off\" virus scanners aren't what I like.. I prefer \"active-protection\" type products, which continuously scan for updates in certain areas of your hard disk, notify you of changes to the registry, and let you know about attacks.

This is not meant to be a replacement of anti-virus software. It is to be used in conjuction with it or if you are cleaning up a system that is badly infected. There would be nothing wrong in using another scanner. In fact, it is recommended.
