I am like looking for a good laptop and it can 2nd hand/recycle. I look one dell but most of them do not tell how the battery last. I am looking for watching dvds, listen to music, surf the internet, work, games. I also would like one that has good battery life and under $1000.

What kind of games? The reason I ask is because it's quite difficult to customize a gaming-capable notebook that comes out below $1000. : /

Yeah, if you really want nice graphics for under $1000, you'll want to go desktop.  You just can't get that for that price with a laptop.

My laptop can play almost all of my games, including HL and Call of Duty 2.

The Radeon Xpress 200M is based on the 9200 series GPU, and while I know that the 9200 is a rather old chipset, it still gets the job done.

Age of Empires 3 runs like a champ, as well as Dues-Ex: Invisible War.

I doubt it'd run HL2 very well, if at all, but I don't even have HL2, so I'm not too worried.

I think with Shipping and Handling, I paid just over $900 for it.

How on Earth is your laptop able to play Call of Duty 2 \"like a champ\" but unable to play Half-Life 2?   O_o

Because I don't HAVE HL2, therefore, I don't know if it would run decent or not.  The only reason I said that it may not run it at all is because 1) I don't have the game, and 2) I've heard that it's a resource hungry game.  What engine is it based on?  The Unreal engine?  I've never installed any version of Unreal on here, so I don't know.

And I never said that my lappy runs COD2 \"like a champ\", I said it runs AOE3 and Deus-Ex like a champ.  There are moments in COD2 that are a bit choppy, but it's playable.

What I wanted to get across is that you guys are right, a good gaming laptop will be fairly expensive, but you can get by with some other options for well under $1000.  For me, this is all I needed and it plays all of my games just fine (for me).  If I really wanted to play the hardcore games, I'd have bought an Alienware or something similar...but I really didn't feel like shelling out over $2000.  Remember the reason I even wanted a laptop was because of my deployment to Iraq.

HL2 is probly one of the best engines out there for being light on resources and video card. HL2 uses it's own engine called source which is what is used for games like Counter Strike and Day of Defeat i think.
