The Mass Effect sex scenes have become a rather infamous inclusion in the otherwise enjoyable but flawed title.Since before the game was even released, the inclusion of threedifferent sex scenes—involving a male and female, a male and an alien"female," and a female and an alien "female"—caused quite a stir. Now, conservative blogger Kevin McCullough is seeking to prove thatsuch a travesty should not have been allowed. As McCullough writes inan article titled "The 'Sex-Box' Race for President":
Quote:
It's called "Mass Effect" and it allows itsplayers—universally male no doubt—to engage in the most realistic sexacts ever conceived. One can custom design the shape, form, bodies, race, hair style, breast size of the images they wish to "engage" andthen watch in crystal clear, LCD, 54-inch screen, HD clarity as thevideo game "persons" hump in every form, format, multiple,gender-oriented possibility they can think of.
Even in the face of criticism, McCullough has remained firm in his argument. To say that McCullough is a little off the mark would be polite. Hisdescriptions of his 15-year-old son playing such vile filth first andforemost neglects the fact that the game is clearly rated M for Mature:a rating which dictates that the game is for players over the age of17.
Moreover, the sex scenes in Mass Effect are not wanton, long in duration, nor remotely graphic. Having played through the titleand witnessed all three flavors of the sex scenes myself, I can attestto the fact that these scenes are no more racy than what is witnessedin mainstream theater and even television today. Aside from a barebottom, you won't see much, as the scenes are as well-directed asPG-13-rated films with regard to masking nudity. However, we leave itto you to make your own decision. YouTube has videos of both the straight sex scene and the "lesbian" sex scene. You make the call.
