Microsoft on Tuesday announced the Wireless Laser Desktop for Mac, the company's first keyboard and mouse set designed exclusively for Mac users.
The Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop for Mac includes the Comfort Curve Keyboard and High Definition laser mouse. The keyboard is designed specifically for the Mac, with keys consistent with other Mac-only keyboards. This keyboard is Microsoft's only keyboard without the Windows Start button. The mouse features a Tilt Wheel and utilises Microsoft's Intelligent Tracking System.
"We are excited to see our colleagues on the Microsoft Hardware team provide this Mac-only keyboard and mouse to strengthen Microsoft's lineup of products for Mac users, which includes our productivity suite, Office 2004 for Mac," said Scott Erickson, director of product management and marketing for the Macintosh Business Unit at Microsoft. "This launch further demonstrates Microsoft's commitment to enhancing the computing experience for Mac users. We were able to preview the product at Macworld this January and saw firsthand the very favorable response from Mac customers."
The Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop for Mac is set for release this summer for an estimated retail price of US$99.95.
I can't really see the point in Wireless to be honest, but I wouldn't but a Microsoft Keyboard for the Mac when I can get the nice looking Apple one, however, its the fact there making one that counts; maybe there making up for the fact that they discontiued support for IE, Media Player and MSN now, ah, we have Safari/Opera, Quicktime with WMA support, and iChat or Trillian/IM, ah and an Apple Keyboard
