Microsoft PressPass has posted an interesting Q&A interview with Peter Pathe, Microsoft Corporate VP and the "Father of Word," as he prepares for his retirement. There's some interesting Word trivia in the article, including
Word for Windows was the first WYSIWYG word processor
Word was also available for MS-DOS, OS/2, and Apple Macintosh systems
It took two full years before WordStar and WordPerfect were able to develop Windows-based versions of their products (giving Word for Windows a huge headstart)
By 1994, Word for Windows had claimed 94% of the word processing market
What are your experiences with Word, was it one of the first programs you used? I remember it was one of the first I used, along with good old publisher, at primary school haha.
