Ok, so I am looking for a good, reliable MP3 player. I don't need anything fancy -- I don't need video, picture taking abilitys, etc. All I want it for is to play music. I would like it to be at least 10gb, but I would like to get a good deal on it too. Any suggestions?
Looks like a good deal to me. More memory than the Nano, costs less than the Video. I know that you said that you don't need anything fancy, but I would really recommend the Video. There are a number of reasons why: 1. iTunes is hassle free and easy to set up. 2. Apple gives great tech support. (For the iPods, at least. I don't know about the computers.) 3. It opens up a world of possibilities for you with video capibility: pass the time, watch your favorite TV show, great for car trips. (Unless you're the one driving, then you just listen to music.) 4. More popularity means more accessories and speakers.
Athough, maybe we should see what the Zune is like, first. Personally, I am strangely intrigued by it.
I have a 5GB Creative Zen Micro that I've had since June of last year. To date, it has fallen out of my pocket while cutting the grass on a riding lawn mower and I ran it over (with the tires, not the blades), it has fallen out of a slowly moving car onto concrete, I've stepped on it, dropped it and literally beat the crap out of it and it still works great.

Apple's aren't bad, in fact, they're quite sturdy. Unfortunately, they place a higher priority on the style and look of the iPod than the durability of the iPod. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, Apple created a fairly iconic design that, frankly, they have to stick to. I'm not an Apple lover, but they do make durable, high-quality hardware which, contrary to Steve Jobs' preachings, does suffer from a quirk or two... or fifty... every once in a while.
Creative doesn't have that limitation, the Zen series of music players really doesn't have to adhere to any particular interface look, nor does it have nearly the focus that Apple does on style. Creative's look good, but they're designed in a much more durable fashion, I'd say.
I own a 512 MB Creative Zen Nano which I just love. I'm amazed at the sound quality they can pack into those things. It was a much better value than the iPod shuffle of the same size (physically and magnetically). Mine has a screen, while that twenty-dollar-higher-priced player didn't. That's Apple for you.
All the same, I've never been a fan of these tiny fileserver-esque devices. I ask, \"Who the hell needs 80 gigs?\" But it's a personal thing for me, I hate carrying stuff. What I want is a bluetooth-enabled phone with the capability of carrying up to 2 GB of music. I'd be a happy man with that, and it'd be one less device that I'd have to carry.

I'd suggest Creative *shrug*
W-o-W
I can't believe it either. But then again, it could be like that Motorola work phone, which in the commercial, a person is riding the zipper (here's a picture if you don't know what it is): Anyway, the phone ACTUALLY FALLS OUT of the guys pocket at the top of the ride, and it still works after it hits the ground.

I have a 5GB Rio Carbon and its been sitting on my desk for months collecting dust because it broke. One time I was just transfering stuff to it and it hasn't worked since.
WTF, after posting this reply I decided to try to get it to work and guess what? It just decides to work. Well, I guess I no longer have a broken MP3 player.

Just to let you know, I did go with the Creative Sleek Photo from Walmart. No problems with it whatsoever. Awesome sound quality, really easy to use (the slider is kind of hard to get used to at first, but you can adjust its speed), if you carry a cell phone in your pocket, you are already used to carrying it around.
