I just got back off holiday. My cousin was here looking after the dog and he was on the computer. I have got on and discovered that it keeps restarting for some reason. It doesn't close all the programs down and then say \"logging off..\" and all that, it just restarts for no apparent reason all of a sudden in the blink of an eye. I only got back yesterday and already it's happened 5 timer. I've tried pushing all the plugs in to make sure they're all connected properly and it still does it. I think the stupid idiot may have downloaded a virus. Does anyone know what i should do?
Random reboots could be caused by quite a few different things. However, considering the circumstances I would try to rule out malware first.
First of all, do you have anti-virus software? If you do, make sure it is updated. If you do not, get one. If you don't mind paying for one I would highly suggest Kaspersky. If you want something free, go with avast!. Install whatever one you want and make sure it is updated. Also, Windows should always be updated. Then you can follow the malware removal intructions found HERE.
If you find no malware or removing it doesn't help then it may be due to overheating, a faulty PSU, or even drivers.
