Looking for something to upgrade my OLD 300W and I'm not too swift on deciphering the hoopla PSU talk. If I didn't think that you guys knew anything about PSUs, I'd just go out and buy one and probably regret it. I'd like to keep it as close to about $50 as possible.
Edit: Oops, put this in the wrong thread methinks.

On a more serious note - what you need to look at is mostly the 12V rail. You should get something with at least 20A on it (depending on the system it's for).

Well, its going to replace the PSU in my workhorse desktop now.
Sempron 3100+ @ default 1.8Ghz (OC to 2.1Ghz) Asus K8N w/ nForce3 250 Sony DRU-530A 50X Generic CD-ROM 60GB WD EIDE drive (yes, I haven't jumped on the SATA bandwagon yet...soon) Crucial DDR400 512MB x2 legacy 3 1/4 floppy
And thats pretty much it. But I'm looking into getting maybe a GeForce 6800GT, so maybe that would suck more juice. Really just need something to power all of that.
Thanks in advance for the help.

I'd recommend a Fortron AX450-PN. It's only $51.50 at Newegg and plenty for that system and future upgrades. I have the AX400-PN powering my Sempron rig and it works great.
Any good sites you'd recommend for basic info about PSUs? All of my 16 years of computer experience and I never worried about PSUs...I guess now is a good time to start since they're becoming very important.
