ATI and nVidia are back in the same place; two series of cards with fairly similar performance once you average it all out. Then again it looks like the 7800 GTX had a few more crushing victories than the X1800 XT.
I think that CrossFire will be the deciding factor. ATI appears to get more performance from the second card than nVidia, they also have some features with CrossFire that SLI doesn't. And with the R520 they'll be able to bypass the 1600x1200 resolution limit.
Oh and I did know the G70 can go over 1600x1200. :P
Correct. The refresh rate goes down to 60Hz for resolutions 1600x1200 and above.

One of the biggest obstacles however is the fact that CrossFire can?t render at more than a 1600x1200 resolution with a 60Hz refresh rate. I do not need to tell you that such a low refresh rate is headache inducing on anything other than flat-panel displays. Many people that are potential customers for CrossFire are the die-hard gamers that mostly use CRTs still, so this is a major drawback.
First off, who is Poseidon? Second, why did SuperXP post the exact same message that Poseidon posted?
Next, hands of to ATI for crushing NVIDIA in this round. They did a great job. :) The reason ATI has the advantage is because of the higher clock speeds. (as always, ATI has higher clock speeds than NVIDIA)
But, the 7800 Ultra is speculated to come out 3-4 months after the R520, so we will see then.

I am with Myrdaal. I don't really care much for such tests either. I care about what will give me the best price/performance ratio for the games I play. In this round ATI will still dominate in D3D games, while nVidia will dominate in OpenGL games.
