Opera is now free, without the ads, for good. So, what do you guys think? Good or bad idea for Opera to go free? I personally think it's a good move to get more users, and a bad move for the money.

Same here. If it had adblock, I think I would use Opera. But, as it is, I use FireFox most of the time. I just use Opera for pages that won't load in FireFox
By adware is just means that opera was supported by Ad's. It's not the bad Adware that we mostly hear about.
Many programs are technically Adware.. even many open source programs could be *technically* adware by the way they display messages.. but it's stupid to bother about that kinda stuff IMO.. as long as it works I'm happy :P
opera is extreme unstable on my SLI system it crashes when i oppen my web site and HWA.
Maxthon just came out with a new version of IE2 with add block built in. 1000 times more stable then opera. better pop up blocker then opera. About the same add block as firefox . add block on maxthon is right click just like firefox.
Get it here.

I agree also it is unsafe as it like IE and like IE you will get attacked. The security is like Ie and ya. It is wise to not use IE and anything that is like/same engine as IE.
Not if you have SP2. SP2 will make it very secure, and from what I have seen it blocks more than firefox.. and there are less flaws being found these days compared with a few years ago... sure, if you can't get sp2 then IE won't be as secure as it should be.. thus you can argue that other browsers are more secure. But if you have sp2 and are patched up, then you can't really argue that IE is insecure, because compared to the amount of bugs that are found in firefox every month, it's dang secure.
Saying that you will get attacked because you use IE is just wrong. If you have SP2 and are all patched up, then the chances of anyone successfully attacking you are very low, whereas many attackers are now exploiting firefox, thus you are just as likly to be attacked using firefox as you are IE.
Just looking at it from an un-biased point of view.

Wrong. Hackers are not hacking Firefox. Hackers/crackers are finding more holes in IE. Anyway the holes in Firefox are almost are all patch. While IE almost all the holes are not patch. Go to Secunia you will found that IE has more unpatched then Firefox. 20 out of 86 Secunia advisories are marked not patch for IE. 3 out of 24 Secunia advisories are marked not patch for FireFox. I would go with the less security bugs. http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-3513_7-6333507-1.html
Also I use Opera with Firefox and now that it is ad-free. I can use it without worrying to pay or see that boring ad.
