I'd say the MacBooks and PowerMac G5's are best. The iMacs, which I think is what you'r refering to (built in white thing) don't have the best of screens and clcok speeds; and are not really different from PC's for Image Management. They still use PowerPCs in Industy, a Mac Mini with a good Screen for Imaging is better than an iMac. If your willing to spend the money, geta Lacia Screen, than again, I doubt you wil be needing to use adobe Photoshop CS and handling RAW Files, so for what you want to do, there really is no difference between a Mac and a PC; but when it comes to handling 80MB RAW Files on CS2 with the Entire Suite Open; [in the industry] the only option is a Mac.
I use a Mac ofr handling large RAW FIles, even from a D2X or D50, and use it for InDesign Magazines, also Web Development. I have my reasons why I use a Windows OS on Bootcamp from time to time; for testing, Visual Basic, Some Web Development and gaming, but Im looking at it from a different Perspective; from a home perspective, the Windows PC can be considered equal or down to preference, It doesnt make a difference performace wise and for your money.
You could simply get a nice looking Mac Mini, to try it out first, for under that can run BootCamp (Free) and therefore Windows XP, or as I'm doing Vista. Then that solves the games issue, and if your scared of OSX, which you shouldn't be (I'd be more scared of Windows), you can dual boot Windows. Its a 2 week learning curv, and If you have a Justified reason after 2 weeks, of why you want to change back, I will pay you , guarunteed...
Atomic77, why do you choose a Windows PC, just out of interest?

Don't get a mac!!!! They're overpriced and hard to upgrade. You can buy a better PC for the same price as a G5. The Mac OS is also hard to use and ineffient. I'd never buy a Mac, they are just too damn expensive and do not perform as well as PCs. Although Macs do look better..
I'd always go for the PC. Even though it is less compatible overall, it is cheaper than the Mac. It seems to me that Steve Jobs charges for every single penny he can get out of his customers. At least with a PC you can use Linux, which is completely free.
There instantly accessible, easily upgradeable, have far more software available for them and you don’t have to be a pretentious arsehole to own one j/k
I have solved the mac/pc problem by DUAL BOOTING my Mac OS X and windows on my AMD Athlon 64 X2....Mac runs faster on that than it does on their hardware. And windows can be used for the rest of the crap i do.

I'm not sure if you have actually used your eyes/ brain recently...Mac hardware is more than capable of running linux...and mac IS linux...well..unix..Mac OS X is based on BSD!
Mac. Hands down. Microsoft has and always will be extremely buggy and unstable. It sometimes scares me to shut down my computer at night because I think in the morning I'll have some unknown "Microsoft Boot Error!". I'll stick with MAC when I get a laptop.
