i need to find a program where i can have TOTAL network control over my forthcoming fileserver. i dont have a monitor (this is why) so i need to be able to control it from the network right to the DOS level.

If anyone knows of software that can do this i would be grateful....not to keen to drive an hour and a half to get a $10 monitor and i dont wanna buy a new 17\" trying to keeep it small :)

SSH using Putty or WinSCP3 or any other SSH program. I use SSH (Putty) to control my firewall (it's a system I built based around security and power-consumption (research?)), as it uses minimal components.. I run all sorts of things on it like folding@home, and everything is done through SSH.

Why not just 'borrow' your current monitor, mouse, and keyboard for the instalation?

Uh... lol?

Does the video card support TV-out?  You may be able to get away with that...

If not, umm... I don't know what to tell you... Just go get a $10 monitor from Goodwill or something.
