Forthcoming PS2 title gets a Latin twist

Rockstar has announced that forthcoming PlayStation 2 title Bully, which has been the subject of much controversy recently, is getting a name change.

From now on, the game will be known as Canis Canem Edit - Latin for Dog Eat Dog.

Rockstar has not revealed why the move has been made. However, it seems highly likely that the decision was influenced by the amount of criticism that's been levelled at the game from anti-bullying campaigners.

Bully has also come under fire from the likes of Jack Thompson and UK MP Keith Vaz, and Take-Two's Manhattan offices were last week swarmed by demonstrators protesting against the game.

Hmm It looks like another possibly good game ruined by the likes of good old Jack Thompson the GTA SA killer. I don't really know that much about ps2 games overall But this one sounds interesting.

I really don't see the point in this. How is changing the name of the game going to do anything to the actuall content? If changing the name of a game is going to silence the people who protest violent video games then we're all in luc

lol. good old  america, its okay people as long as they change their name who cares what its called and why should the goverment care about the name let alone the content, as long as it makes lots of money and revenu the inverstors/econmy will be fine, thats why the goverment wants to look like their doing somthing but their not really,

(US goverment)

And frankly Jack Thompson is an self important idiot. Let me remind Mr. Thompson that yeh i've played GTA but no way has it made me violent in any way. its the people's mental capacity that makes the violent not the games.

Yeh i believe that their should be tighter age to game restrictions but thats another matter.

ROckstar always make nice refined games, and it may well hit the charts and stick there for a while, in the UK anyway.   In some countries it may be banned.

they should use their original name and put in some more controversial things in the game just to show that they stand their ground.

I dont think they can/could get past a court ruling, and it might be harder than it seems... with a directors board just to change a game's name.
It would be a great publicity stunt, whether anybody could produce/distribute/buy/sell it is another matter
