Pictures and details of Samsung's US-oriented Qwertykeyboard-equipped slider handset have been revealed in documents filedwith the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

Samsung's U940: CDMA

Dubbed the U940, and supposedly codenamed 'Q-ball', the CDMA handset is strikingly similar to Samsung’s existing F700 handset - reviewed here. However, the company has opted for a two-megapixel camera on the U940,instead of the more impressive five-megapixel snapper built into theF700.

A user manual included on the FCC websiteindicates that the U940, which includes drawings of the phone with thelogo of US network operator Verizon, shares many of the same featuresas its F700 lookalike, such as Bluetooth and PictBridge connectivity. The slider handset also retains its Qwerty keyboard and has a memorycard slot built in.

However, one of Samsung’s documents on the FCC website states that“The Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) browser on your phone allowsyou to access the web”, which could be an indication that iPhone-esqueweb browsing won’t be possible through the U940.
No word has been given yet on when the U940 will be released or how much it will cost.
In November, the FCC’s website revealed the development of Motorola’s Rizr Z6c, which runs on 900MHz and 1800MHz GSM network bands, in addition to CDMA.
