Every so often I'll bump into a YouTube video I like and want to view again. Instead of having to head back to my browser to view it, I use TubeMe.

Just insert one or more links to the YouTube videos you want to save into TubeMe and the program saves the files to your hard drive.

There's no installation. Just download TubeMe onto your Desktop (or into a folder) and double click on the program's icon.

I however use VideoDownloader, because it has the added convenience of being an extension for Firefox. I just click the icon on the status bar, and it brings up a list of all of the downloadable videos on that page.

Download Tubeme at softpedia

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/Download-Managers/TubeMe.shtml

TubeMe can download any movie from YouTube on to your own computer to be played at any time, even when your off-line.

ah the old youtube ripping well i've been doing it for a while, i generally just download it as a FLV with youtube ripzor (a quick google will find it). if it's a music track i then use my FLV to MPEG convertor so i can play it in media player and add it to a playlist. its all nice and free which is great

I use Vixy.net which is an online FLV converter, what I like about it, is that it's web based, and you can convert the FLV file into a variety of formats, avi, mov, mp4, 3gp and mp3 if you just want the audio.

Personally, I prefer just manually extracting/ripping the .flv in to Macromedia Adobe Flash and the encoder with Flash 9, has every option you want (all the stuff the web based offers, with more... and no problems with connection speeds and corruption when I tested out "Vixy"); you can fully edit a .flv file

Videodownloader plugin in FF2 works best for gettign a raw flv.

VideoDownloader is straight and easy.
I'm using Firefox Portable and VLC Portable which can read flv. Works like a charm.
