I just bought an AMS Venus DS3 SATA-USB enclosure and put my WD1600JD in it as an external HDD, and when I'm transfering large files like 5GB, the transfer process would stop near the end, my PC did not freeze however, but the transfer process just stuck there. I really need help on this one and this is kinda urgent too.

Don't know if this will help or not, but check that all cables are tightly plugged in and secured.

The cables are tightly pluged, and it's USB2 which my mobo supports. The funny thing is, when I tried to transfer files that are smaller (2-3GB), everything works fine.

I have just discovered that it is actually an drive problem, I connected the drive back into the case as an internal drive and same thing happened, now I'm really confused.

Maybe it is a motherboard limitation?

Also, try Western Digital's support section:

I doubt it's a motherboard limitation, and I have already contacted Western Digital, I'm waiting for a response. Also someone pointed out that it might be caused by the virtual memory being filled up before the transfer is completed, I guess I'll try to expand the virtual memory a bit and see what happens.

This is a long shot, but the drive isn't overheating, is it?

Things just keep getting stranger, I tried to transfer 3 folders 5.47GB of files from my internal to my external and it worked. So I figured that it has nothing to do with the 5GB thing, however I also know that there is nothing wrong with the original 5GB that I was trying to transfer because I copied it to another location and it also worked. I'm totally confused now, don't know what to do.

Also, I was trying to extract some zip files, around 700MB, from the external drive to the external drive, and I got a CRC Error at the end of the extraction process, but if I did it from the internal drive to the external everything was fine, I still haven't found the core to the problem *pulling hair out*.

I've had some problems like this with my 1GB usb flash drive.  When I try to transfer larger files (100MB or more), it gives me an error near the end of it.  I still haven't found a solution to the problem.  Sometimes it gives an error even for just a 50MB file, and other times I can transfer a 700MB file without a problem, but usually 100MB is where it starts giving me problems.

Storm Petrel, is there a quota set on your hard drive that limits the total amount of files you can transfer/write?

No there is no quota limit, because I have transfered 5.47GB of files once and it worked. Also, if I waited long enough during the transfer of the 5GB file I was talking about, I'll eventually get the Delayed Write Failed error.

So, you've put the drive internally and it worked? Then, I would say your rack is dysfunctional.
