I would love to hear all of your opinions regarding if AMD should move to DDR2 like Intel or DDR3 like ATI & NVIDIA.?

DDR2 costs too much to manufacture which up's the prices for the consumers, Where as DDR3 don't cost as much & performs cooler & better than DDR 1 & 2.

I say AMD go for DDR3 & make another \"FIRST\" in technology as they've been doing for a while now.

I mean Intel is forcing there motherboard vendors to buy there 915 & 925 motherboard chipsets which support DDR2 but “NOT” Dual Core CPU’s.
In other worlds nobody is buying them & they have back stock.

DDR3 is almost history. :) NVIDIA & ATI are moving into DDR4. So fast, we can't keep up.

This is why I think INTEL is making a big mistake with the DDR2.

DDR3 & 4 run faster, cooler & with better timings. I don't know about Intel sometimes.

They definitely should skip over DDR2 and go right into DDR3.  But, I don't think that's going to happen.

I'm going to stay away from DDR2 as long as I can, hopefully I'll never have to use it.

Post testing on ddr 2 on the X2 has showen bandwidth upwards of 11k read and 7k on write with ddr 2 . ill try and find the link. There reason for doing this is X2 not single core GPU. Will single core notice much improvment ? Only if extreme overclocked.

Why does DDR2 give better performance in Dual core than in single core??

venice and sandiago and FX have the new memory controler allowing for all 4 sticks to run ddr 400 .

The X2 was gifted with the same but with a higher buffer rate.

Oh, cool.
I guess that would make sense for them to do that, being able to do almost double of that of the other A64s.

Correct. The older memory controllers defaulted 4 sticks to DDR333/PC2700.
