I've finally started saving up a little bit of money and the first thing I am going for, is a new hard drive.

I have $40.00 currently, but plan to spend much more. Going to get a pay check soon, etc.

Got my eye out on this:

Instead of buying a whole new PC at once, I'm going to work on this one. Buying things and if I get a lot of money, I will just keep upgrading, buying new cases, etc.

How many of you would recommend that hard drive? It's pretty cheap $79.99 after the whole everything and I'm on Futureshop right now, some are only 160 and over $200.00.

Also have my eye out on this one:

Seagates are good drives. But be careful if the delivery is coming UPS. Some of the ups drivers are really stupid. I once had a UPS drive leave a 250gb hdd, motherboard, dvd cases, dvd burner, on my frontporch! right up town!, anyone could have taken it and ups isnt responsible because they just say the package got there. Be careful with ups, but never had problems with tiger themselves.

Seagate makes good drives, but I would personally recommend a Western Digital, since I have never had a problem with one. (Our school uses only WD drives and I've never seen a problem with the drive itself in any of the computers I have worked on in two years).

Thanks for the feedback, guy's.

The Western Digital costs the same as the Seagate I posted, but it's only 400GB, not 500GB.

Would you still recommend the 400GB or the 500GB?

EDIT: As for UPS, our town is incredibly small, so for some reason they always deliver the items to our post office. We don't have mail boxes here, lol. We all have to go to the post office for our mail and it closes at 5 when everyone gets off work.

But if they did deliver it here, I would no doubt be home at the time. No school or anything going for me right now, so I'm trapped on the computer all day. :)

Watch best buy or some other big chain near you.  They tend to have hard drive sales that bring the cost of a 250GB drive to around $55 after rebate.

Canada, no Best Buy near me, the nearest store would be Futureshop and I don't think you can order using a money order.

I will continue to save up and I'll hitch a ride with my dad to go buy one out of town. He goes out of town every now and then.

I've bought stuff from Tiger before, and they've been pretty good.  Except, be VERY careful with their rebates.  I don't think I got any rebate checks back from them, but I should have paid closer attention.
Instead of going with tiger, I'd suggest going to some forums where they have 'For Sale' sections.  You can get Great deals on HDs there, for example this one., and remember, that's no rebates.

P.S. - Mods -
I hope it isn't against the rules that I posted a link to another forum.  If so, just let me know.

Thanks, Josh.

Definately going to check that board out, or possibly look elsewhere.

Sure, this is also another forum I go to for buying/selling parts
Overclock.net is also another one, but it's kind of a pain with them, as you can't post a price offer on the forum, and you can't PM members till you've done like alot at that forum.
