Let me be blunt: the last live-action Street Fighter movie was garbage. Few will argue with me on this point. And making a video game adaptation of the movie was simply an insult. Be that as it may, Capcom has decided that another live-action Street Fightermovie is a great idea. The company has revealed some of the cast, whichincludes the likes of Neal McDonough, Kristin Kreuk, and Michael ClarkeDuncan. Here's a breakdown of the currently announced actors and theiraccording roles:
Charlie Nash: Chris Klein (American Pie, We Were Soldiers)
I suppose Capcom thought this would be the perfect compliment to therecent flux of attention to the age old fighting series thanks to Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter II HD Remix. If it's anything like the last one, though, it will probably do moreharm than good. Then again, the cast certainly doesn't appear to becompletely detestable: Michael Clarke Duncan as Balrog will be fun, aswill be the ridiculous hairpiece fitted to Chris Klein for him to playCharlie. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
The new live-action Street Fightermovie will be released next year, and is "one of many projects" in thepipeline from Capcom to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the cultfighting series.

"The story revolves around fan-favoriteChun-Li, who will be portrayed by actress Kristen Kreuk (of Smallvillefame). Michael Clark Duncan, Neal McDonough, and Taboo of Black EyedPeas are also on board to round out this all-star cast,"
Capcomconfirms.

"The film will be made in conjunction with HydePark Films, and will be distributed by 20th Century Fox for a scheduled2009 worldwide release.

"The Street Fighter movie is only one of many projects Capcom hasplanned to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Street Fighter,"
it added, before teasing us with a reminder that the Japanese will be droppingmajor coinage into Street Fighter IV arcade machines from this summer.Lucky bastards.
We can only hope it's better than the firstStreet Fighter film, but we'll be going to see it regardless, if onlyto gawp at Kristen Kreak for a couple of hours.
