OK, I'm looking to buy a surround sound system for my PC (the sound card is: SoundBlaster Xi-Fi XtremeMusic), and was wondering whether a non-PC system is compatible.
For example, the set shown below (Harmon Kardon HS100) is a "Home Theatre System", intended for use with a TV/DVD player. Can this be connected to a PC without an amplifier? (i.e. can I connect the speakers directly to the soundcard). The system is for 5.1 speakers (5 satellites, 1 subwoofer).
You can, though you would need a adapter. Something like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/IPOD-PHOTO-AUDI...dZ1QQcmdZViewItem , it doesn't matter that it is for ipod, but you connect that into the phono out, though you may need a scart to phono adpter. The you can plug it into you PC.
