TheHive.net, i just thought id share with you is a Microsoft run site, with many users that are MSDN subscribers; where online "group leaders", bloggers, and site owners can connect with each other and with Microsoft. The new site includes better forums, blogs, photo gallery, and exclusive Microsoft videos.
Microsoft is apparently giving away free laptops loaded with Windows Vista Ultimate to some of the more active/influential bloggers on Hive.net, however, it is not widely publicised that Microsoft is even a part of Hive.net.

Microsoft is providing the basic resources for The Hive, like server space and the kick start. But the actual day-to-day management is handled by independent moderators from community sites. It is good for them because it is a place for community leaders to stay in the know and share their opinions about Microsoft Windows and other Microsoft products.
I also thing the ASP Community Server which the hive runs on is a Microsoft product; (communityserver.org), built with ASP. It is pretty cool!
Lots of things you wouldnt know Microsoft are involved in...! Including Area 51
