Here is an easy way to remember primary trigonometric functions' relationships:

SINOPHY stands for "Sine of an angle is Opposite over Hypotenuse."

COSADHY stands for "Cosine of an angle is Adjacent over Hypotenuse."

TANOPAD stands for "Tangent of an angle is Opposite over Adjacent."

Your thoughts?

i just remember SOH CAH TOA. where teh first letter is the ratio, the second is the numerator and teh third is the denominator.

so letter1(angle) = letter2 / letter 3

SOH = [ Sine = Opposite / Hypotunuse ]
CAH = [ Cosine = Adjacent / Hypotunuse ]
TOA = [ Tangent = Opposite / Adjacent ]

i find that easier

Yours is just like remembering the complete name of a person (first name initial , middle name initial, and last name initial) whereas mine is just like remembering the first name of that person. Now, which way is easier to remember that person?

I just memorised each function.

I was taught the SOHCAHTOA method later, by which point I didn't need it to remember.

I guess the each method appears harder to learn when the other method is already well known and practised.

You're right, Andy, because by nature we human beings are not so resilient to change.

SOH CAH TOA is how I was taught it and is the one I'm most familiar with. I ended up just remembering them for the course of my GCSEs and I keep a notebook now of useful 2d and 3d trig functions that I use when doing graphics programming.
