The verb to pwn (past tense: pwned, pwnd, pwn'd, pwnt, pooned) as used by the Internet gaming subculture, means to beat or dominate an opponent. While it probably originated as a typing error of the word own, it is now used intentionally by many members of the subculture. The term has become so ubiquitous in Internet circles that it is often used outside of gaming contexts; for example, "He just got pwned in that debate" or "The hunters pwned that bear."

is it possible to pwn oneself? In the case of leapfrog it is the perfect definition for 'noob', we dont want to confuse people into thinking that it is the 'pwnage' - something that pwns others

"n00b" is a fascinating phenomenon. How many kills in counter strike source does one have to achieve to advance from "n00b"?

hmmm indeed interesting and this question has probed the depth of all souce fans for years.... i would say that your kill to death ratio must be around 2:1 and that you should get at least 10 kills each match, oh and just not get tottaly pwned in the first minute

It seems like Pwned isnt really used much in Gun Games. Mainly mid-evil games such as Guild Wars.

Seven!

(Lisa: No, Dad, it's a rhetorical question.
Homer: Rhetorical, eh?  Eight!
Lisa: Dad, do you even know what "rhetorical" means?)
