The rumors are true. Today Western Digital formally announces the successor to its beloved (but rather small) Raptor WD740GD. The new WD1500 doubles capacity to 150 gigabytes and features a host of improvements aimed at elevating the family's performance and reliability to a new level. -- Source
I just finished. Seems to do well when compared with other SATA drives, but gets defeated by SCSI.
Defeated by SCSI? I don't know about that, or at least in a lot of cases. The 15K SCSIs might win, but I think it beats 10K SCSI drives.
In the single user performance, the Raptors dominated. I will agree that the Raptors provide a good price/performance ratio when compared to SCSI, but I hear that Seagate's 15,000RPM Cheetah's are coming to SATA...so we'll see then.

Wow, if that happens, it'll be cool to see. I wonder how noisy 15K drives are.
