With the extra gig (making it 2) Spare batt, and internal battery (that swaps for dvd, 2nd battery (2 at a time)) 24hr turn around and 2nd day shipping it comes to 2160.00
it comes to around 1800 with the ram upgrade 2100 after 2 extra batteries (one normal and one for cd bay for dual battery support) and 24 hour turn around and 2nd day shipping.
Batteries are definetly expensive. Would be nice if you were able to hot-swap them eh?
Otherwise, looks nice. Wish I could get my hands on a dual-core lappy. Take the jump. Just buy it, run SuperPI and then watch and laugh as I turn green with envy. ;)

There's a similar ASUS model with the exact same specs, but utilizing the Geforce Go 7600. I'd be willing to be that the Geforce Go 7600 would lay waste to the Radeon X1600, while conserving power at the same time. Just a thought.
I was temporarily thinking about getting a small gaming laptop... but I figured that my desktop would probably still outperform it in most games. I'm shooting for a Dell Inspiron E1705 with some mean specs to be my next primary computer. Lappies FTW!
Is it the W7J, if so that one had a 7400 nvidia, i thought to be weak.
If its not the W7J id like to know what model im more of an nvidia fan but put the 1600 ati to an nvidia 7400 and my preference lies in performance.
The one i have in my eyes right now (w3j) has 7 hour battery time with the normal battery and and cd bay battery together. So i figure about 3-4 hours per battery is still good run time.
and with a spare main battery i can have hot swap batteries, pull cd drive put in bay battery switch main and pu the cd drive back. When both batteries go dead then i rely on the bay battery module or a power outlet ;)
Id love to get it asap but id also like to have 2000 bucks asap aswell LOL. If theres a financing option i may just take it. :)

The W7J is a totally different laptop. It's a thin-n-light laptop, 13.3\" screen with a Geforce Go 7400 and an integrated webcam. The Geforce Go 7400 is weak... but given that it would be powering a 1280x800 pixel screen at most... it's really quite a good graphics processor for such a portable laptop.
No, the laptop I was referring to was the Asus A8Jm, running a Geforce Go 7600. I like ASUS's laptops, do you know of any reputable resellers of them? Are there any places where you can customize one?

Ask yourself where you heard that figure, and under what circumstances... because that's a LOT of battery life for a 14\" notebook with a medium to high end dedicated graphics processor. That's an especially long battery life for a notebook that apparently has an 8-cell battery.
Well thats two batteries together (one takes over when one is drops to a certain level) I dont know what the cd-bay module battery is cell-wise. The main is a 4800Mah. And as far as manufacturer battery run times is determined with the laptop full idle. Mine is rated at 3.5hrs, but when im doing low to medium im lucky if i get just under 3 and when im playing a game 1.5-2hrs MAX. Its just a rating to give an idea.
As for buying it customized, i used geared2play.com but i think ill just buy it at normal and upgrade it.
