well as a user of mac gui i think it has to bad points, the first is the design, i think it needs somthing else more vivid to make it stand out from the rest of the page, another problem is your forums, i dont like the way its laid out in tracker format and is doesn't easily allow members to navigate to older sections of the forum which may not have as much activity as the rest of the forum. - also macgui.com has been down quite a lot so i suggest that you find a better hosting company because when your down you loose precious money.
Thats all i have to say, i think if you follow those changes and any other suggestions that people say then you will have a good forum/community. My advice allways listen to peoples views however upset you may be about what they are saying about your hard work, if someone says its crap ask them why they think it is and build up on the points they suggest. Also you have to always update the website to get more people interested and involved, you may offer articles but alot of people may not read them, why not ask your community what they would like to see.
A few too many clicks to get to content, and a cluttered homepage, also the registration page isn't all too accessable. The design isn'treally original; but it fits ok; and the site looks pretty bad with CSS off, and doesn't work so well with screen readers, if at all. Overall, not so good usability, or accessablity, It doesn't look too bad in your ideal browser, and is not too bad for loading times; however as a site, there are many more similar sites, if not offering exactly the same things, most notably http://www.spymac.com
Set your site apart and dont copy other sites concepts, reduce unneeded information, imrove usability by utilising CSS better and make your site a little more unique, a merit could be that the site works ok, but when I tried to access it yesterday, it was down (No Server Response.).

Thanks
1) I don't understand "too many clicks to get to content". All latest content is on the front page and needs only 1 click to get to.
2) What do you mean by "registration page isn't too accessable"?
3) Pifff, Spymac doesn't offer even half of what Mac GUI does. Free email and hosting are gone, have been for many months now. I'd rather be considered similar to one site than be similar to thousands

I agree! But Mac GUI requires very exact specifications to run, and that is very hard to find. I am almost at the point where I shall need a dedicated server. And if the site grows a lot I will most certainly get one of my own.
I refuse to pay $300/month for a dedicated server plan when I can buy one on my own, set it up, and simply have a T1 line run into it. If you add it up, in a year I would have paid as much to buy the server and maintain it myself. And I most certainly have the skills to setup & administer it as well.

I dont necessarily want latest content when I go there, but maybe your users do, it was only a suggestion

It doesnt function with a screenreader... And uses Javascript unecessarily.

They have over 2,000,000 Users, and they must have done something right; your site, face is, was and to most extent still is a complete rip off of Spymac, try to break out of it, and comparing yourself to Spymac isnt doing anything either.

requires very exact specifications
phpBB Requires the following, and a mysql database, php and cpanel are all you need, covered by as little as a $5 a month job; more than enough for you
A webserver or web hosting account running on any major Operating System
A SQL database system
PHP (4 and above) with support for the database you intend to use above.

You paid for a dedicated server for that site? And a T1 Line? I thought you used Incogition Networks hosting, more realistic I must say.

OK, 1st of all I didn't double post. I replied to two seperate messages.
2nd, Last I checked, I am the one who programmed and set up Mac GUI 5, not you. Again, you have no idea what you are talking about. I need ImageMagick 5.5.7 or later to handle image manipulation including gallery thumnails and avatars. I need cron_tab access to run maintenance scripts including web activation, caching, and avatar generation. I also need to have unlimited sub-domains, FTP accounts, and email addresses for hosting. Not to mention that I need 2GB to store all of the Downloads. 400 photos in the Gallery takes up quite a bit space, as well as 30,000 forums posts.
