I have a Nikon D50 Does a great Job with an SB600 speedlight, and a 2GB flash card! And it doesn't set you back too much money either, for a solid, flexible (takes any Nikon F mount lens, cheaper lenses like sigma are available), and relible model.

Google Product Search - Nikon D50 + Kit Lens

D50 Body plus 18-55mm Nikon Kit Lens from £403.67, there isn't really an excuse!

Once my F717 dies, I'll definitely be in the market for a DSLR.  I've heard good things about Nikon and will definitely keep them in mind.

I've had several cameras over the years. I'm not sure which models exactly.

What annoys me most about cameras is that damn wait between you pushing the button and the picture actually being taken.

We have an older Kodak DX4530 and a new Kodak C743. Both are very good cameras and I recommend Kodak!
