Why does it always have to be the Americans that are behind. For example - Engineers. Almost every country has more engineers then America. Even Africa. Two, Imports VS Exports. We make absolutely NOTHING! Everything is from China and Japan.

When will America began to step up and be true Leaders!

The reason is because americans eat lots of foods that grow neuro toxins and they kill brain neurons. In other countries they don't have an over abundance of processed foods.

We're not behind. To even suggest that is a pretty ignorant statement.

Engineers? Post your numbers. Where did you hear that we have fewer engineers than "almost every country?" Seriously, that would amaze me, because engineering is a huge aspect of American higher education. And what kind of engineers? Civil Engineers? Chemical Engineers? Computer Engineers? Software Engineers?

Secondly, imports versus exports? A lot of the stuff we import is American-made in other countries. Whether or not you agree with outsourcing... it's happening... and it's tremendously helpful to our economy.

Sorry but im with pickle on this one, you shouldnt always trust biased opinions other people say to you whether it be from media or just the group of people you see everyday. next time look into the facts a bit more before you go barking out absurd statements again

And in a November survey of 4,000 U.S. engineers, 64% said outsourcing makes them worry about the profession's future, while less than 10% feel sure America will maintain its leadership in technology.

Such gloom is reinforced by a raft of oft-cited statistics: the U.S. graduates only 70,000 engineers a year, and enrollment in engineering schools is declining fast. India, meanwhile, turns out 350,000 engineers annually, while Chinese universities produce 600,000, by some estimates. Indeed, with Asian techies earning anywhere from a quarter to a tenth of what their Western counterparts do, doomsayers might ask why any intelligent young American would pursue engineering.
- From BusinessWeek

Quote:
Just look at the numbers using consistent criteria. If one counts people who study computer science and information technology as engineers -- as India does -- then the U.S. grants 134,000 four-year engineering degrees annually. Indeed, the U.S. is producing far more engineers per capita than either of Asia's emerging superpowers. Indian schools grants only 122,000 four-year engineering degrees (and almost as many three-year degrees), while China generates 351,000.
- BusinessWeek

Quote:
American students are just not going into engineering programs. There are some 100,000 fewer engineering students than there were a decade ago. And the need for well-trained engineers is going up. High tech companies are anticipating a 27% shortage by next year.
- WorldMagBlog

These were recent articles. The proof that engineering is going down and has been a shortage for years. Not to mention schoolings vs other countries.

About Imports vs Exports? What good does it do you if you idea was created here but made there? What good of an import is that?
