Nintendo is now forecasting a shipment total of 6m Wii consoles by March 2007, while Sony continues to struggle to manufacture PS3s to meet demand and Microsoft insists that it is on track to reach a 10m worldwide installed base for Xbox 360 by the end of 2006.
In the meantime, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has officially recognised issues concerning a weakness in the Wii Remote's strap, saying, "Some people are getting a lot more excited than we'd expected. We need to better communicate to people how to deal with Wii as a new form of entertainment," and advising Wii owners that playing with sweaty palms really isn't appropriate.
If you've managed to pick up a Wii, share your tales of midnight queuing, your experiences of the hardware and launch software, or anything else related in the comments section below.
