Windows More Secure than Linux

A recent experiment by 2 Florida researchers shows that Windows Server 2003 is actually more secure than Linux. Amazing, I must say, but I'm not sure this article is completely valid. Red Hat Linux was used. I think better results could have been achieved if something like Fedora was tested. And since we all hate* Windows ( well everything but Windows 2K Pro), we should turn around and congratulate Mr. Bill Gates.

*Note: Only few members here share my opinion.

I had Windows XP Home on the family HP computer, but I wiped it out and installed Windows 2000 Pro.

I think Win 2K is definitely more secure than XP.  And I could believe that it is more secure than Linux.

Windows 2000 is not anymore secure than XP. Windows XP is just Windows 2000 with a better user interface and a few new features.

And Windows can be just as secure as Linux if you take proper precautions and don't go clicking on every link you see.  :P

Yes, correct. It is only for a web server.

And to KoolDrew, yes I know the article is sad, but perhaps for web servers, it might be true. Not sure. As I said, it does not necessarily have to be true, it's just something interesting I found on the net.

Yeah, OpenBSD, not Windows.

I still believe that 2000 is more secure than XP, excluding SP2. The only major advanced XP has is SP2, which initally had a lot of problems, but no all fixed up.

The only thing I don't like about SP2 is that it is harder to put the recovery consil on the hard drive...

And for KoolDrew's sake, the old features were improved as well is XP.

Let me reword my statement. Windows 2000 isn't fully safer than XP, but it is much more stable.
