Microsoft will be spending more than US$150 million worldwide to do acombined launch of its trio of enterprise products: Windows Server2008, Microsoft SQL Server 2008, and Microsoft Visual Studio 2008, nextyear. The theme will be "Heroes Happen Here," and the launch eventswill kick off in Los Angeles starting February 27, 2008. The focusbehind this theme is on the incredible work done by IT professionalsand developers (the "heroes"), who make IT tick around the world.
Windows Server 2008 RC1 has just been made available earlier this weekfor customers to download and evaluate as well, so it should be righton track to be RTM for the event.
It is clear that Microsoft is hedging on the enterprise hopping ontoits 2008 bandwagon. "This is the largest enterprise launch in ourhistory, and both Microsoft and many of our industry partners aremaking a significant investment in a worldwide rollout," said AndyLees, corporate vice president of the Server & Tools Marketing andSolutions Group at Microsoft
Microsoft is certainly not leaving anything to chance. According tothe press release, the number of professionals who have already beentrained on either Windows Server 2008 or Visual Studio 2008 isstaggering.

To date more than 140,000 IT professionals anddevelopers have been trained on Windows Server 2008 and Visual Studio2008, and 3,100 certifications have been granted on Windows Server2008.
In fact, I just got a call from Microsoft this afternoon, inquiring ifI would like to take up its offer of a free one day "hands on" ofVisual Studio 2008. Do you have plans in the pipeline to startdevelopment and/or deployment on the 2008 suite of products?
