From bbc.co.uk/news

Quote:
People who upload their own films to video-sharing website YouTube will soon get a share of the ad revenue.

YouTube founder Chad Hurley confirmed to the BBC that his team was working on a revenue-sharing mechanism that would "reward creativity".

The system would be rolled out in a couple of months, he said, and use a mixture of adverts, including short clips shown ahead of the actual film.

Flixya.com Video Revenue Sharing did this first, and other smaller sites like Spymac followed. It was inevitable for Google/YouTube to make this change anyway.

For the lastest YouTube developments, like the live webcam features, look at TestTube.

Grrrr... Clips shown ahead of the film? I doubt I'd frequent Youtube as much for all my stupid video needs if they started doing that.

I heard about this before it was even posted here im just trying to find the page so i will upset this post when i find it.

I also read that the ads will be on the start of the films, be pretty funny seeing a coke advert then watching some guy fall off his bike.
although what companys want there ads on you tube.

I would go crazy if I had to watch an ad before every video on YouTube. That is why I use YouTube! No annoying ads places everywhere.

Agreed. People are just going to spam really **** videos they shot of their friends on their camera-phones, then get all their friends to view it over and over for the revenue.. YouTube are really going to need a much stronger and better moderation system before this will work in their favour, especially with the debate over whether YouTube count as breaching copyrights all over the place because they are allowing copyrighted material to be uploaded.
