I read this article on another board. However, what strikes me as odd is that they've released her name in this article - according to the other one I read, it was stated that her name was *NOT* to be relased as she had been victim of sexual assault.
Though this article seems to state that there were two victims here... nonetheless, a horrible thing, either way.
Oh god, Windows 3.0.... the horrors. I can remember using computers that had to boot from floppy disks... *shudders* The only thing I miss from those days is Word Munchers and The Oregon Trail though.
Ha. I've been in school for the last month and a half. You think High School is bad? Well... you're probably right. <.< College is a lot cooler, though you don't get long summer breaks (unless you're lazy like that).
I'm legend8804, or just legend if you prefer. I'm a student attending IADT in Tampa, which is a school for design and technology. Currently, I'm studying Computer Animation.
You probably won't hear too much from me though, as I'm a pretty big lurker. But I'll probably be floating around, so don't worry about that.
Mmm... yeah, I remember this happening. It was a pretty big deal (on FFXI). I mean, usually this many accounts don't get suspended in one fell swoop. But as I understand it, RMT's (or Real Money Traders) have to be tracked and need to have a large amount of evidence brought forth on them before anything can really be done - otherwise, you might just be banning a character that's just been really nice to a lot of his friends.
If you've got something that old, chances are you've probably still got a floppy diskette drive hanging around in there - if you don't have a copy of XP, make a boot disk for 98 (or you can do a google for the Universal Windows Boot Disk - I know it's out there!). Once you've created the boot disk, you can then start your computer up with just that disk.
Since you mentioned that you've tried re-installing Windows 98, I'll just assume having a copy of that isn't a problem, so here's your big warning: IF YOU DO THIS YOU WILL LOSE EVERYTHING ON THE DRIVE. PERIOD. I am constantly amazed by the number of people that don't understand the concept that Formating a hard drive means wiping everything.
That being said, once you get the command prompt to come up, type fdisk. This command will come up with a small program that asks you what you want to do. It's pretty self-explanatory from there, but here's the basic steps: Delete your current disk partition, create a new partition, and then it should automatically ask to format the drive. You may be able to do it manually - it's been quite some time since I've had to do this myself, but I do know it doesn't take a rocket scientist to perform the operation.
