One of the first games that made us excited about the Xbox 360 was Geometry Wars, and one of the first games that amazed us on the PlayStation 3 was Everyday Shooter. The game was developed by one man, Jonathan Mak, and I had the pleasure of meeting him at E3 last year to talk about the game. The amount of polish and design he was able to put into the play, the graphics, and the music is pretty amazing for such a young developer with such limited means. If you don't have a PS3, however, you're in luck: Everyday Shooter is now available via Steam.
The Steam page does a decent job of describing the game. "Everyday Shooter is an album of games exploring the expressive power of abstract shooters. Dissolute sounds of destruction are replaced with guitar riffs harmonizing over an all-guitar soundtrack, while modulating shapes celebrate the flowing beauty of geometry." There you go!
The game is normally available for $9.99, and is now on sale for $8.99. I would strongly suggest grabbing a controller to play this 2D shooter while cranking the sound on your computer to really enjoy the music. It's great to see such a strong game get wider distribution, and we look forward to the games that Mak will be creating in the future.
