Basically I went through Hotscripts and chose the ones I thought looked good, so it may be a little biased Forum systems can usually be modified to make a form of CMS...Comparison of Internet forum software (Not all free) Also there are eLearning or Virtual Learning environment which are a special kind of CMSList of some Virtual Learning Environments And finally blog systems, Wordpress can make a great simple foundation for a CMS.List of Blog (Webog) Software Note the 2 above langages are not just PHP, but ASP, JSP, Java, CGI, Ruby on Rails etc too.
