ok so i'm not getting regular comp speakers anymore, as i've been convinced and advised not to...for reasons that seem obvious now that people have pointed them out....but i really don't know much about bookshelves and amps and receivers and subs and etc....like i know how they work as i've worked with car audio....but i don't know what's good and the who's who of the companies out there for bookshelf speakers.....
anyone know much about these that can help me out??
When you say studio speakers, I assume you mean nice home speakers.
Really, you have to go to stores, listen, find what you like, and buy it. But that way you are sure to spend at LEAST 500 for speakers.
Klipsch has some very nice theaters-in-a-box setups. Look for one with a dedicated amp(or reciever) and digital audio inputs. There are also quite a few other companies that are good, just stay away from BOSE and Sony (over-priced, and produce 'engineered' as opposed to clean sound).
http://www.cambridgesoundworks.com/store/c...a&item=c1md12ee I have this (but I paid $300 for it about 4 years ago before it had the Mick Fleetwood sticker). Its simply amazing how great it sounds. When put up against my old JBL Studio speakers (3-way - Dome tweeter, cone midrange, and 12\" woofers) it is only bested at high volumes (due to it's tiny 6.5\" sub). Several inputs and outputs so you could use it with serveral devices easily. Runs on a car battery if you want to go camping and have an awesome stereo or something.
