In another game-related advert ruling, the Advertising Standards Authority has ruled in Sony's favor regarding their recent PSP billboards. The ads, highlighting the various multimedia features of the handheld with accompanying pithy phrases, had raised ire in March amongst some who found them either inappropriate for children, or, dangerously suggestive in the case of one ad which read 'take a running jump here' placed near "busy roads".
The ruling noted Sony's compliance in removing or relocating some of the ads, such as the latter above in more "unfortunate" locations such as the Manchester Tram Link. It also helpfully explained that the most controversial of the ads, which read 'your girlfriend's white bits here' was not in fact offensive, but instead would be properly read to refer to "holiday snaps [showing] them in a bikini before they got a tan" as Sony intended, and ruled overall that the campaign overall was not in poor taste and would not be likely to "encourage anti-social behaviour."
