BBC are redesigning their site,
reboot:bbc.co.uk is a competition to redesign the BBC homepage., win some prizes and get yourself noticed.
But what are they after ?
For the rules, terms and conditions and the legal stuff then go here. For a brief then read on...
Ashley Highfield; the Director of New Media and Technology said this to the magazine; New Media Age on April 13th.
"We want to allow Internet users to go into their own BBC space containing all the content they're interested in, all the TV shows they like and all the things they've played with on the Web. We need to come up with a personalised BBC homepage that will provide users with a starting place for their journey through BBC content and beyond"
It looks like they want a Web Application, and want to be the nest of everything, maybe they've missed the point fo Web 2.0. Maybe there stuck for ideas?
There definatly getting people thinking...
Prizes arnt quite what the 1 billionth song downloader got on iTunes but it is just a concept they're looking for!

The winner will receive a high end Apple laptop, a visit to the BBC and have their design implemented and showcased on the bbc.co.uk homepage later this summer.
The Runners Up
At least ten of what the BBC has to call "MP3 Players" are in the offing. The number and range of runner up prizes is more likely to be dependent on the volume and quality of entries.

Judging.
Ultimately the winner will be judged by a panel of judges chaired by the BBC's Director of New Media and Technology; Ashley Highfield. For more see our FAQ or About reboot:bbc.co.ukt page
On a different tack, why not have "redesign the Ten O'Clock News" or "redesign The Archers" competitions.
Or you could do all this yourselves, which is what I'm paying you over a hundred quid a year for.
Also they will probably turn away older web visitors, with flash AJAX, there's something special about the BBC's old style at the moment, they currentl cleverly intergrate new media like maps and videos in to a classic, simple and effective disign.
